| It's unbelievable to see that Athy have only one starter on the team..This is a club that has won 3 minor championships and the latest under 21 championship...Surely there should be more of these players starting..

| Yeah the Athy team that won it last year were all underage again this year. Im presuming Brian Kinahan is injured as well as Mulhall? Joe Kinahan should be in the team too but hopefully the15 we have will get the job done. | |

When Leixlip won a few minors 10 years ago we used to always feel hard done by when it came to Kildare squads as we'd never have many on the team. Now our minor teams have been pretty crap for years and we have 3 lads starting!

| From my limited knowledge of underage football , I am very surprised that Cian Reynolds or Danny Egan are not on the team but given my lack of faith in this team management I shouldn't be surprised.
Can someone put clubs beside each player ?

| I'm at a loss to understand how there is only one Athy man starting and why Darroch isn't starting, let along on the bench.
3 Minor titles in the last 3 years, not to mention schools titles also. I really dont understand.
From 8-15 Barry has gone for big men. I thought that only happened at u10's? |

| Surprised Donnellan didnt make it but Heneghan must be a good goalie if hes keeping him out. Mulhall must be carrying an injury if he didnt make the starting 15, sure he is playing senior club football and is one of the best forwards in kildare. | |

| Very surprised as already said that Cian Reynolds and Danny Egan aren't starting. Darroch is recovering from the knock he got a few weeks ago so I didn't expect him to be fit and I persume Brian Kinahan is injured or he'd be starting. Hope we'll have enough to pull through. Thought Liam Mcgovern would have been worth a shout ahead of Padraig Fogarty but the managment know BEST...... I hope. Not too sure about the fullback line surely there is better around? Heard this year was a closed shop as regards trials, so how are we ment to have the best team out???? Best of luck lads. | |

| Jaysus lads, nobody knows what has gone on in the last 5 months or so of training and matches.. so to say "this lad should be starting" or "there isnt enough athy lads on the team" a week before the championship starts is a bit presumptuous. There are a number of reasons a guy gets picked for any team, ie skill, form, discipline, attitude, fitness, work rate, injuries to others etc etc... nobody knows what goes on behind closed doors. There seems to be a an under current of hoping that barry fails in my opinion. lets get behind the team and managment and hopefully we can get over wexford and kick on from there. Im sure everyone who is in the panel are there on merit and have put in a massive effort over the sh*tty winter months and deserve better than statements like "surely there are better around" | |

Would agree with the above. Lets all get behind the guys they have put the hard work in. Alan Barry has a good set of selectors with him too.

| Snowman i have to disagree with your comment..I think if you have the best players at your disposal you should use them and its safe to say that this isn't the case with the kildare team for tomorrows night match..there are far better players on the bench and even not in the panel than what are on the first 15... Also how many of the starting 15 have actually won any major competition, apart from sean campbell winning a minor championship in '07 i dont no of any of the others winning anything...surely to be a success you need to have players who know how to win the big games and have the experience on winning trophies..

I've nothing against Alan Barry whatsoever. But for the life of me I cannot understand how there is only one lad in Kevin Feeley from athy starting, despite Athy winning the last 3 minor titles. It just doesn't make sense to me. Kevin is only 19 at that. He was a minor last year. You have the likes of Danny O'Keefe who came on in Westmeath last year for he u21's and scored a point on the bench. Darroch started last year corner forward for the u21's. Renolds and McGovern are quality players also. They must all be disappointed. Only thing is if they get the chance they may prove the management wrong. |

| Winning a minor championship in Kildare cannot be compared with winning an U21 All-Ireland,
Some people on here wont be happy unless we just enter the Athy U21s into the U21 Leinster championship!!

| Obviously some of the above players havent been showing it at training or challenge games to merit a starting spot. This happens far too often in Kildare with underage 'stars' being talked up and they never materialise into quality inter-county players.
Athy won 3 minor titles in a row so they have a god given right to have more than one representative? bullshit - on what grounds? And its obvious Mulhall has an injury and thats why he isnt starting.
It has been mentioned here before that Barry keeps a closed shop to prevent anything getting out from the camp yet according to experts in here most of the lads on that team shouldnt be starting because they played well with their club in the minor championship???

| Maybe we shouldn't have a manager at all.
Maybe the best way to pick a team is to have a poll on the site here and the players with the most votes per position start the game.
I am no fan of Barry, his performances as manager in the past two years have left a lot to be desired, but I will reserve judgement on this year until I see the team perform tomorrow night.

| hope they do it tomorrow night and best of luck to them. just a little point for everyone calling for more athy lads using the three minor titles argument they have only one U21 county title in the last three years so you can't expect the county U21 team to be flooded with them yet. next year they should have a few more involved but no point rushing lads. last year i was surprised to see the two lads start in the corners and felt they would be just sprung off the bench. as is pointed out mulhall must not be fully right as he would surely start this time out. once again best of luck to them. | |

| The back line named could be in for a torrid time as only campbell, holton and comerford capable of performing at this standard and with this saying in mind ''you can carry bad backs but you cant carry bad forwards'' this startin 15 has 5 quality forwards that will carry them over the line. | |
